After the amount of money my other half spends in High Street coffee shops, it makes sense to buy a gadget which could save us money in the long term, after doing some research to find a machine which could make a Latte which could match the High Street Chain, we settled on the X7.
The X7 was designed by Italian architect Luca Trazzi, and looks absolutely amazing. It sits on the kitchen worktop perfectly and is just the right size to not be too obtrusive. The X7 is even recommended by Francis Ford Coppola, you can check out the blog post here http://blogs.sfweekly.com/foodie/2007/12/francis_ford_coppola_loves_his.php
The Francis Francis X7 works exclusively with illy iperEspresso capsules to make extraordinary espresso with one-touch convenience. Unlike conventional one-stage systems, the iperEspresso method uses an innovative, patented two-stage process to create intensely aromatic, full-bodied espresso with rich, velvety cream that lasts and lasts. Because extraction takes place entirely inside the capsule, the coffee and machine never come in contact making for easy clean up.
The X7 is simple to operate, you fill up the water reservoir at the back, insert a coffee pod, press the On button, then press the “Cup” button in the middle and after a few seconds the machine will make a “beep” and the button will turn blue, you then press the button once and the perfect espresso shot will pour out, now we only use the X7 for latte’s so you then press the “Steam” button on the right and after a few seconds you will here a different toned “beep” and the steam button will be illuminated, can then use the steam wand to heat up your milk, it really is so simple.
So to round up, the X7 looks great and really does produce a fantastic coffee.

Despite nearly killing me though, it was a lovely looking machine and did make a mighty fine cup of coffee.
I've now bought a modern machine which is just as good, but doesnt look anywhere near as beautiful!
Answer to Clare:
You can program the amount of water volume by keeping the 'cup button' pressed until the correct amount is dispensed, then take your finger off the button. The next time you have a coffee, the X7 should remember your setting.
Note to Matt:
The latest X1 model (ground coffee only - no ESE pods) is vastly improved. It's got the same wonderful stylings has it's father and grandfather, but with the under the skin advances it now makes delicious espresso.
